With his fully instrumental project, Cocoon, set to drop digitally tomorrow, Ayatollah brings us the latest leak from the album. Previously, he dropped "Lonely Girl," a track that is built on a chopped-up vocal sample and burbling instrumentation. For "Reefer," though, Tollah's thrown a guitar riff over erratic, seemingly always-changing percussion and sporadic vocal samples to create a track far different than what you'd expect from this Queens native. In other words, it's not your typical gritty New York City banger, but rather an experimental take on the classic boom-bap style. And it doesn't hurt that's provided an intriguing video to go with it. This might be one of the better "making of" videos I've seen lately.
You can find Cocoon in online music stores tomorrow.
