It seems a little surprising that everyone's favorite "WTF" filmmaker David Lynch is a fan of diffident, minimal, airy indie pop trio Au Revoir Simone, but it's a lot less surprising that he digs the very well-shot video for their track "Shadows." Lynch (typing like he's Kanye West) explains his feelings thusly:
"I LOVE Au Revoir Simone ..... THESE GIRLS HAVE WHAT IT TAKES ..... MUSIC JUST FLOWS OUT OF THEM SO NATURALLY - AND IT'S GREAT MUSIC ...... THIS VIDEO FOR "SHADOWS" - FROM THEIR NEW ALBUM "STILL NIGHT, STILL LIGHT" IS MIGHTY - THE COLOR AND THE LIGHT ARE STELLAR - THE MOVES AND LOOKS - MINIMAL - CLEAN - MODERN AND SOLID ..... IT ALL COMES ALONG SO WELL SUPPORTING THE GIRLS AND THEIR MUSIC ..... ANNIE, ERIKA AND HEATHER HAVE GOT THEIR ACT TOGETHER - THEY'RE BIG - BUT THEY'RE GONNA BE BIGGER - THEY'RE GONNA BE REAL BIG"
He's pretty enthusiastic, but he's right about the video; even though it's just a performance clip, it still manages to look pretty good. You can also catch a new video interview with the band at dlf.tv.
He's gushing like he's related to one of the band members.
