Bradford Cox’s contribution to Pitchfork’s Cemetery Gates series continues with this version of “Shelia” from last year’s Logos album. This is one of the Deerhunter frontman’s most infectious tracks—just try not singing along to the “we’ll die alone together” line after a few plays.
There’s a smoke machine deployed just to add to the gothic nature of the surroundings, although sadly Cox didn’t backcomb his hair and don eyeliner and full-on goth regalia. Perhaps he could oblige for the next installment in the session? We await Cox's version of the Sisters of Mercy's "This Corrosion" with baited breath.
