The Deerhunter blog has burned back to life in the early days of 2010, with Bradford Cox linking to a full live set from Atlas Sound’s New Year’s Eve performance and inviting Cole Alexander from the Black Lips on board as a guest blogger (albeit with a disclaimer attached). Now, Cox has issued an unreleased Atlas Sound track, titled “Christmas Synths.”
Not much information is available on the instrumental song, aside from a note saying it’s an outtake from “Christmas season Notown demo sessions.” The track is a low-key piece of burbling electonica that is somewhat reminiscent of krautrock trailblazers Cluster, and occasionally resembles the electronic-hymnal passages from the second side of David Bowie’s Low.
