Asher Roth: "Be By Myself" f. Cee-Lo (MP3)
Now that Asher Roth's "I Love College" has blown up, his solo debut, Asleep in the Bread Aisle, has got a second single release. "Be By Myself" is that single, and it starts promising since Cee-Lo sings the hook, but the track is overall pretty weak. Roth seems unsure as to what rap about removed from his College-loving sphere, and his verses reference Madden and Shawn Michaels unironically, which I'm sure has already happened on an MF Doom record. I know that I'm not supposed to reference Eminem when it comes to Roth, but they really do share a lot in common; both are better in scenarios when they can play an exaggerated version of themselves, not when they're trying ballads or more serious song topics (Eminem's "Stan" obviously excluded).

This guy is the biggest tool in indie rap. Not to mention his debut single "I Love College," stereotyped college life in every possible way...this guy is begging for attention, just like Chester French.
Only good thing about this track is Cee-Lo.

this is kind of a weak track but no love lost. I still think asher roth is a dope rapper. He raps about drinking partying and weed all good things

stereotyping college in every possible way? well aside from the fact your completely off base, there wouldnt be anything wrong with that anyways. every kid in college knows exactly what he's talking about, it's called knowing your general audience moron, and he made that sh!t hot, so loose the eminem tag, stop hating, and open your eyes.

Asher Roth is makin' that paper and has made his name known. Good for the guy, and he is a legit rapper too considering he is the only white rapper that people have noticed since em so people need to lay off and stop comparing and just listen to his work.

Asher Roth is no more than blah blah blah. Same stuff over and over. No real stubstance. Why would he even consider "wifing" Shawn Michaels a MALE Pro Wrestler?
