Art Brut has been undertaking a recent North American tour to support its Art Brut vs. Satan album. They went straight from the airport to the KEXP studios, where they delivered this rendition of “Summer Job” from the album, which mixes up their usual punky stylings with Eddie Argos’ pithy lyrics.
It’s odd seeing Argos deliver the song without an audience. He looks gangly and awkward, and it feels like something is missing from the performance. Although the track does end in style--with a burst of guitar pyrotechnics and a snatch of words from the Smiths’ “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now.”
