It seemed in the bleakness of 2009, the world wasn't looking for a relentlessly upbeat album like the Harlem Shakes' debut Technicolor Health. The band broke up in September, an early demise that's not all that uncommon these days, but it hasn't stopped some of the more motivated musicians in that band. Arms is the solo project of former Harlem Shakes guitarist Todd Goldstein. ARMS' debut LP Kids Aflame was released officially in the U.S. this week on Gigantic Records, and I find myself consistently digging "Tiger Tame." It's the same kind of ephermal major key guitar work that caused me to fall in love with Technicolor Health, even if Goldstein's voice is a little too Vedder-ish for my liking.
