Arcade Fire appeared on this week's episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Scarlett Johansson. Though each track on The Suburbs is arguably as good as the next, "We Used to Wait" (above) and "Sprawl II" (below) lend themselves pretty well to SNL's stage. Both seem deeply personal yet also confrontational, especially when Win Butler goes out into the crowd during "We Used to Wait." Arcade Fire performances rely on energy much more than theatrics, and their spirit consistently shows through on television. It ain't the same as the real thing, of course, but they do a pretty good job of bringing it.
They also participated in a digital short in which they tell the United Nations to "dance your troubles away."
