For the release of their 2008 fall collection, Prada commissioned a short animated film, directed by James Lima, that features a brand new track by Anthony and the Johnsons. The song, “The Great White Ocean” is in the vein of the work on I Am a Bird Now- Antony’s warbly vocals are accompanied by droning and sparse guitar and sounds like it was recorded in a wine cellar.
I guess the film is supposed to make you run out and buy a Prada shirt or dress (I really have no idea what garments Prada makes beyond Kanye’s hand bags), but it seemed more like a film student’s abstract thesis project that was inspired by the backgrounds of Salvador Dali. But don’t ask me—I buy my clothes at JCPenney. [Pitchfork]
