Antony Hegarty returned to the U.K. last week, and among the highlights of his trip was a performance on the talk show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. Hegarty promised he would play more piano on the touring duties undertaken to promote The Crying Light, and so it proved on this performance of “Kiss My Name.”

The album lacks the immediate impact of I Am a Bird Now , but it’s difficult not to get sucked in by it on repeat plays. This version of “Kiss My Name” is beautifully complemented by a small string section, but Hegarty is the star here, with his vocals really allowed to shine amid the song’s minimalist arrangement.
