Antony and the Johnsons: "Crazy in Love" (Beyonce Cover) (Video)

Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” is a firm favorite of Antony and the Johnsons, and has been a part of their live set for some time. A recorded version of the song has recently been released as part of the “Aeon” single on Rough Trade, and it’s another wonderful demonstration of Antony’s incredible vocal range.

His take on “Crazy in Love” is the direct inverse of Beyonce’s version—hers was exuberant, uplifting, designed to get feet moving on the dancefloor; Antony’s is inward looking, downbeat, perfectly mournful. This slo-mo low budget video beautifully complements the song.
