Anni Rossi: "Rude Boy" (Rihanna Cover)
We premiered "Land Majestic," the latest single from violist-singer-songwriter Anni Rossi, last month. And fellow Prefix writer Matthew Richardson remarked that the track, though slightly different from her past work, still contained her "viola's trademark percussiveness" while showcasing her distinct ear for pop melodies. That latter quality is on full display here as Rossi has interestingly enough chosen to cover "Rude Boy" by Rihanna. Because of Rossi's sugary vocals and viola-heavy interpretation, her cover loses some of the original's immediacy and brazen attitude.
