Your Love My Girls (Animal Collective vs Frankie Knuckles) [MP3]

Average Rating: 8.50

I'm embarrased to admit that, when fellow Prefix writer Nick Neyland opened his review of Animal Collective's latest, Merriweather Post Pavilion, with a discussion of the influence of House music on the record, I didn't really know what he was talking about. But this mix someone did of MWPP standout "My Girls" with Frankie Knuckles' Chicago House classic "Your Love," makes the connection painfully clear. The joyous, effusive Animal Collective track blends seamlessly into the old House cut that one Youtube commenter "Love(s) to listen to everytime [they're] getting some on LowerWacker Drive" (which by the way, anyone who's been to Chicago or seen The Dark Knight knows is not remotely okay). Need there be any more proof that the disco/house revolution is upon us? [GorillavsBear]

Hey, Prefix was ahead of the game on this one! We made a comparison between "My Girls" and Candi Staton's
"You've Got the Love" (which borrows heavily from Knuckles' "My Love") back in April 2008 ("My Girls" was called "House" back then):
