Amazing Baby are the latest band to start hitting the hype machine thanks to name drops on RCRDLBL, like Abe Vigoda, Apes and Androids, and Cold War Kids (to name a few) before them. The band has also been big-upped by uber-hot producer Mark Ronson, and they have the right zip code to be the next big blog band (they’re from Brooklyn).
The band’s MySpace demos form a set that sounds like MGMT if those guys were high on LSD playing Black Mountain covers. “Pump Yr Brakes” is the band’s best track (so far); the sauntering guitar and percussion are augmented by what sounds like a spaceship making a descent into the desert.
That MGMT reference is pertinent, actually, because Amazing Baby are supporting that band for a few dates on the east coast in July.
