When I was 14 I spent most of my time in my room listening to Tool, wondering why girls didnt' like me, and writing Chuck Palahniuk rip-off short stories about young men who learned the meaning of life from rabbits. That being said, whenever I hear about someone in their teens who's doing something interesting and productive, I am filled with venom and disdain. For instance, 14-year-old Eliza Callahan is the lead singer of Almost Allison, a band that was formed for a school project (middle, high?). She's got a sort of more-upbeat Nellie McKay thing going on, and even if the song weren't good (it is), that would still be impressive for anyone who, demographically speaking, should be listening to Demi Lovato. [The Fader]
This is a v., v. great write-up.
This song Tide Comes In is great. We can't help moving our feet under the study table, enjoying listening to it, while we've got to study for tomorrow exams. The exam thing is a real problem in our country Taiwan, but we are a group of three high school students, who like to support each other. This girl Allison found this song, and shared it together. We felt like that we found a free escape to a world of imagination. We really like it. Thank you very much. We hope to know more and hear more from you!
