Almighty Defenders: "Cone of Light" (MP3)

After the slow-ish Motown swagger of "Bow Down & Die," Almighty Defenders, the Justice League of garage rock featuring Black Lips and King Khan & BBQ, have released "Cone of Light," a rollicking, soulful track that sounds like it could actually be on an album by '60s soul singer. BBQ (aka Mark Sultan) handles the singing this time out, and he's actually probably got the best voice out of the whole bunch. Given that the Lips' Cole Alexander sang the first song, I wonder if each member will have their time as the lead singer. 

Almighty Defenders' self-titled debut is due out on Sept. 22 via Vice.
