Anyone tired of hearing Alicia Keys bellowing “New Yoooork” wasn’t in luck if they tuned into Jools Holland’s show in the U.K. last night (May 18). Granted, “Empire State of Mind (Part II)” is noticeably different from the Jay-Z version of the song, but that chorus is still intact.
Keys is on tour to promote her The Element of Freedom album, from which this song is taken, and she even shows what a consummate performer she is by switching the lyrics to “London” toward the close of this rendition. Do you think she does that in every place she plays? If so, the people of Constantinople are eagerly awaiting her next performance.
