Alec Ounsworth: "Holy, Holy, Holy Moses (Song for New Orleans)" (MP3)

"Holy, Holy, Holy Moses (Song for New Orleans)" is the first song from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's Alec Ounsworth's New Orleans-recorded solo debut Mo Beautyto see release. The song doesn't feature much work from the New Orleans session men Ounsworth reportedly worked with--it's mostly just Ounsworth with an acoustic guitar singing about Hurricane Katrina and flooding water. The song is a new look for Ounsworth, especially since he drastically tones down his out-of-tune scratchy voice, because he's got serious stuff to sing about. He still gets a little over the top near the end, but overall it's a beautiful track.

Mo Beauty is due out on Oct. via Anti-. [Stereogum]
