Apparently Against Me! are the best punk band on earth, but their “true” fans hate the direction they went with their 2007 album New Wave. I had originally thought the band was a Panic! at the Disco clone (thanks to the exclamation point)—but that was until they invaded MTV earlier this year and I got this song stuck to my brain like a malignant tumor.
This video is for the title track from New Wave is pretty simple—a guy puts the a record on the turntable and listens to the song. If this is some betrayal to the punk form, I’m not necessarily buying it. It sounds more like what Bruce Springsteen would have done if he was raised on the Stooges instead of lame folk songs by Pete Seeger.
