It seems that the maximum saturation point for “chip tune” artists is fast approaching. Pitchfork TV ran a documentary last week about the group of artists making music with old videogame chips, and Crystal Castles, whom many chip-tune artists claim co-opted their sound, are the go to band for new remixes from indie-rock bands.
The latest chip-tune artists to start making the rounds is Baltimore by way of North Carolina artist, Adventure, who has a self-titled debut out now via Carpark. Adventure just put out his debut music video-- a sketchy clip for the equally scattered “Ultrazone.” The novelty of the video and the song tend to wear thin around the third listen, but it’s still a pretty solid dance track.
