Numbers obsessed singer Adele is following up her debut album 19 with a record titled 21 in January. Rick Rubin has produced that new album, which seems like a jarring contrast of styles, but judging from this performance of "Someone Like You" it looks likely that he erred closer to his work with Johnny Cash than he did to his rap/metal background. Jools Holland's show offers the perfect stage to perform these kind of stripped down vocal gymnastics, and Adele rises to the challenge admirably, no doubt eyeing up a further generous slice of the adult contemporary audience with this new record.
