Believe it or not, it's been a decade since the tragic death of Aaliyah. I know it's kind of cliche to say, but it really does feel like yesterday, or at least a few years ago, that it happened. And not, you know, 10 years ago. To honor her memory, Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke has put together an unofficial remix of one of her biggest hits, "Are You That Somebody?", with the simple note, "RIP Aaliyah." He's also added his signature touches in the bass and fuzz department by adding some bass and pushing the tempo forward with some dance grooves and rushing synthesizers. It doesn't detract from the original version, though, and HudMo hasn't manipulated Aaliyah's vocals. It's complementary and, in a way, a testament to some of the material she could have produced had she not died so young. She was 22.
