A Place to Bury Strangers are still out there promoting last year’s Exploding Head album, and they’ve shot this artful clip for “Ego Death” in an attempt to keep the sales ticking over. The self-styled “loudest band in New York” live up to their reputation here, even when forced through tinny laptop speakers on YouTube.
This clip owes a stylistic debt to the washed out colors and psychedelic visuals of their shoegazer-y forebears—turn down the sound and this could easily be an old Ride or Chapterhouse video. The music is of a sturdier bent, but A Place to Bury Strangers are best experienced live, preferably in a tiny sweatbox at ear-splitting volume.
