“A Little Death To Laugh”

It’s been awhile since we heard from the Cold Cave camp, but a lot of changes have been afoot. The New York outfit has always been the moniker for Wesley Eisold, and now he’s getting a bit more help. London May (Samhain), Hunter Burgan (AFI), David Scott Stone (LCD Soundsystem, Melvins), and Cody Votolato (Blood Brothers) now round out the live band, which Eisold has been taking on the road recently with Divine Fits.

That touring partner is only fitting as Cold Cave’s staccato synths mesh perfectly with Divine Fits’ like-minded sound. The new-look Cold Cave plans to release another full-length next year, but in the meantime they recorded a new three-song 7″ for their tour. “A Little Death To Laugh” finds the band as dour as ever but with a sweaty rawness that perhaps reflects the added band members. In true Cold Cave fashion, the song was inspired by the “deceased French poet Tristan Corbiére.” Take a listen and check out tour dates below. [CoS]
