It's been a long time since 1996's "Lovefool" but Nina Persson is still cranking out the pop gems at 34. The Cardigans' singer performed the first single to her almost decade-long dormant solo project, A Camp at the 2009 Swedish Grammi's. This version of "Stronger Than Jesus" boasted the guitarist for Sweden's Soundtrack of Our Lives (Mattis Barjed), a seven-piece choir, and a live horn section.
In other A Camp/Cardigans/Nina Persson related news, the indie-pop princess took CNN's MyCity_MyLife on a walking tour of her hometown of Malmo, Sweden. She stops by her favorite record shop and People's Park and Persson even finds time to suck on a crayfish for your viewing pleasure(?). The video also has a text interview component for the music fans that don't want to see their indie crushes sucking on a freshwater crustacea.
The time-traveling pop suite Colonia, a follow-up to A Camp's 2001's self-titled debut drops here in the U.S. on April 28, via Nettwerk. That release date is preceded by the following dates:
Scandinavia: Jan 28, 2009 (Universal Sweden)
UK & Europe: Feb 2, 2009 (Reveal/PIAS)
