During the day (and at night when things get hectic), you can find Moscow's Alexander Goryachev in full firefighting gear. But when things have calmed down and he's chilling out by his machinery, he takes on another role. It's that of a increasingly meticulous and deft producer named 813, a name that will seem familiar if you have caught on to the rising Russian beat scene.

If not, there's no better time than the present to get better acquainted with the synth-heavy, bass-laden work of 813. His new EP, Spectrum Riff, is out a week early through Donky Pitch -- you can cop it digitally and on vinyl on Bandcamp -- and we're offering a sneak peak at one of its finest cuts.

To be honest, it was difficult finding a track to highlight. But after multiple spins, we went with "Bluebirds," a shimmering, uber-melodic earworm that's aimed at both dance floors and headphones alike. You can stream and download the track below.
