In a recent interview, 50 Cent said that Jay-Z can't have it both ways; he has to be either a street rapper, or the kind of performer who appears on Oprah. It's clear which side of that divide 50 sits on; Here's the latest single from Before I Self Destruct, titled "Crime Wave," which is about how 50 Cent has a gun, with which he will shoot you in your grill (at least that's how I interpreted the chorus). 50 is at his best when he's on these kind of booming, boisterous tracks, but is it really possible to take the violence serious when dude made about a billion dollars selling Vitamin Water? That's not hood.
Before I Self Destruct is due out on Nov. 23.
