Considering the players involved and what I have heard from them before, I guess I just assumed 13 & God's "Old Age" would be, well, a lot weirder than it is. Sure, there is plenty of experimental, off-kilter stuff going on with the beat during the verses. But the way it swells into the hook is something so pop-friendly I half-expect to hear this on the radio next week. Well done, guys of the Notwist, Themselves, and Subtle. This is the kind of relaxing, mellow pop goodness we all could use today.
Stream "Old Age" at Pitchfork. 13 & God's Own Your Ghost drops May 17.
