Four Tet began May with a run of astonishingly good new tunes, including “Ocoras” and “Jupiters,” that left us itching for his follow-up to 2010’s There Is Love In You. The London producer has started June in similar fashion with last night’s unveiling of another new track, this time “128 Harps.”
The track builds from a thumping, stuttering rhythm that puts the drums high up in the mix. Slowly Four Tet introduces his hallmark intricate string patterns, and places them alongside stammering non-lyrical vocals that recall the music of fellow Londoner Joy Orbison. Pristine and wonderful, “128 Harps” streams below.
