Jim James and company are simply the most adventurous and interesting rock and roll outfit working today. After the dub experiments on their last set, the boys from Kentucky opted for full Seventies freak out mode, with great success. Nobody else could have recorded "Librarian," much less made it anything less than laughable. -
3.Fucked UpThe Chemistry of Common LifeMatador RecordsOctober 7, 2008The Matador debut from Fucked Up is a good desert island album. With all the different ideas and melody lines, it will still be interesting long after other album's have lost their shine. -
Mugison always has something new and original up his sleeve. No matter how many times I listen to this album, I never know what I might find. -
5.Drive-By TruckersBrighter Than Creation's DarkNew WestJanuary 22, 2008Even with the departure of Jason Isbell, the Truckers come through with a solid effort. This album belongs to Mike Cooley and Shonna Tucker, both of whom contribute new standards to the DBT canon. -
