On another note how bout those mighty Red Wings... it's December and they currently sit on the outside of playoff contention. Woot Woot!

Don't talk about my Red Wings. How bout those Maple Leafs? I hear half the team has already started working on their golf swings for April.
Also, Estan, the Rangers suck because they always do; there is no reason. It's like how the Minnesota Viking always collapse in the playoffs; there is no good reason, it just is. Also, that cup in 1994 was a fluke. |

What do you call 20 guys who play hockey in the last week of October but are out of playoff contention by the first week of November? The Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Leafs aren't going to make the playoffs I can concede that, but I bleed blue and white...

I bought a Leafs jersey last year because I always thought they looked cool. But I probably couldn't name one guy currently on the Leafs. Does Felix Potvin still play?

and Al or anyone else, please explain to me why they got so bad? Are they like the Knicks of hockey? Great sports city, historic franchise and arena, shitty team/management/owner/coach, etc.

Thats exactly what they are. The Knicks of hockey.
Toronto will always support the Leafs...its culturally ingrained. So with that kind of rabid (idiotic) loyalty, the owners never really have any incentive to make things better... the Leafs are a cash cow no matter what. I thought the arrival of Burke was gonna change that. I was waaaay off.
Its horrible that I was born into this... but I was, and i'll never change colors..like h0gy said its in our blood.
Also that KITH video is awesome. But I hope your not trying to get a blow job from me Estan. Christ, thats just weird and totally awkward. |

Yeah, aren't the Maple Leafs the most profitable hockey franchise? That seems ridiculous. Do they still have Cujo?

Whoa, (via Wikipedia)
The Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens would meet once again in the finals in 1951, with all five games going to overtime. Tod Sloan scored with 42 seconds left in the third period of game five to send it to an extra period, and defenceman Bill Barilko, who had scored only six goals in the regular season, scored the game-winner to win Toronto their fourth Cup in five years. Barilko's glory, however, was short-lived: he disappeared in a plane crash near Timmins, Ontario, barely four months after that moment. The Leafs would not win the Cup again that decade. |
