The Daily Swarm asked its readers what they thought of The Dead Weather ad.

Sounds like you guys. You babies! Daba needs clicks on those damn things to buy tank tops!

 

We’d really like to thank the 221 people who filled out our questionnaire and wrote out their thoughts. The vast majority of the comments were well-reasoned and insightful, and we want share the highlights below.

Most of all we’re encouraged and inspired that our site brings together such an intelligent and passionate music audience.

When we asked “What did you think of the Dead Weather pop-up ad on The Daily Swarm” the response was:

LOVE IT 6%
DOESN‘T BOTHER ME 14%
SORT OF ANNOYING 30%
HATE IT 50%

Perhaps the most single most striking fact is that over 15% of the comments used the word “intrusive” and “obtrusive.” But all the comments were revealing.

The 6% who loved it loved the aesthetic, thought it was a good fit for the site, and was easy to navigate:

- I thought the Dead Weather ad was great because it grabbed my attention in a good way. It was well designed.

I think that ad was doing something to slow the site down on my machines. It seemed like there was some flash script going on that would just make everything impossibly slow. As soon as the ad stopped running things got back to normal (for me).

 

Fuck that ad.

 

 

I had the same problem as Al but I also upgraded to Safari 4.0 around the same time.

Ditto, firefox on my mac and explorer on my work comp both didn't load properly

THAT AD INTERFERED WITH MY FORUM POSTING!

I know I should be supporting it, but I also hated the ad.  I clicked on it though.

I didn't mind the ad. I clicked it a bunch.

I feel like the Dead Weather ad was just like, really real. Just like, like super fucking real. I mean, normally ads just hang out in the background, but the Dead Weather ad was just all, "Hey what's up. I'm Allison Mosshart, these are my buddies Dean Fertita, Jack Lawrence, and Jack White. We're in a band called the Dead Weather. It's not a big deal, whatever. If you think you get it, I guess you can click that X over there, I guess." Like, if I was ever going to have a beer and watch "Nanny" reruns with any of the ads on Prefix, it would definitely be the Dead Weather ad, just on account of how real it was.

I think the ad was committing viral hate crimes against Canadians, Al and Bob seem to have had the same problem I did... I actually couldn't load the site for a while there..

i side with mattycakes, it was the realest of real ads. i felt like jack white and alison mosshart were my homies. i love alison mosshart by the way. i'm also a bit afraid of her.

 

not sure why the dead weather hates canada though. Prefix is down with Canada.
