Not surprised at a sequel given the success of the first one although I still haven't seen it.

Todd Phillips will next direct the road trip comedy "Due Date" and follow one year later with "The Hangover 2."

The commitments come one day after "The Hangover" crossed the $210 million domestic gross mark and surpassed "Wedding Crashers" to become the second biggest grossing R-rated comedy ever.

That puts Phillips on track to earn $35 million or more on "The Hangover" after he gave back his salary and gross position to become an equity investment partner in the pic alongside financiers Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. Move allowed him to make the film with Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms, who were not proven at the box office.

Galifianakis will play one of the two leads in "Due Date," an Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland script that was revised by Adam Sztykiel. In the comedy about fatherhood, an expectant dad and his unlikely travel companion (Galifianakis) race cross-country in hopes of making it home for the birth of his first child.

Both "Due Date" and "The Hangover 2" will follow the same production track as "The Hangover." The plan is for the "Due Date" shoot to begin Oct. 6, and the film will be released next year in the first weekend of June, just like "The Hangover." The sequel will begin production in October 2010 and will be released Memorial Day weekend 2011.

It will only make money if the title is Hangover 2: Electric Boogaloo.

It's really funny, but if you have to pay 12 clams, I'd wait for the 15 dollar extended version on DVD.

I think I mentioned this, but on my trip home from AC, I spent $5 of my $50 winnings on a bootleg DVD of this on the subway. I watched it this weekend on my train ride home. It was pretty funny. I'll definitely watch it again although I'll probably try and watch it on a normal DVD versus the bootleg I own.

Tyson to return! That's funny that Iron Mike is texting the director. Guess I'd cast him again too. Better than a punch

...

Saturday night at Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards, Phillips told MTV News that he's looking for a part that Tyson can play in "The Hangover 2." "I've got to find something for him, because he's been texting me," Phillips said. "I've got to figure it out. We're going to find something for Mike."

The director also explained that the focus of the sequel won't shift a lot from the first film, although some new characters will be introduced. "It's expanding a bit, obviously," he said. "There's new people to be introduced. But the core cast is still who it's about."

Since the completion of "The Hangover," Phillips reunited with Galifianakis for a comedy called "Due Date," which also Robert Downey Jr. Phillips said that and Downey commiserated about the challenges of following up a successful film with a satisfying sequel.

I have a feeling the sequel won't be nearly as funny, but at least Zach has some good things to say....

Zach Galifianakis praises script for 'The Hangover 2

...

Speaking to MTV News, the comedian has promised fans that it will be a worthy sequel, saying: "It is good. I actually think this script is better than the first movie. It's a little bit daunting to probably try to top it, but we'll try, or at least even it out. Expectations are high, and that makes me nervous.
