Terrible Ad #2: The pay scale here is "sliding." Presumably "$2 (blog posts)-$10 (features)" would be the top of the sliding scale. Something to aspire to! Judging by the site, the writing work's not too intense, but do they have to know so much about your tastes to decide whether you're capable of, say, re-posting a video from another blog? It's not hard, trust us! "Because of the volume of submissions," do not expect a response to your essay-length application for this pauper-esque job.

I don't get the anger over us being an aggregate site, that's what Gawker is too. They have a shitload of stuff on their frontpage right now that's ripped from the NY Times or the Wall Street journal.

they're mad on behalf of freelance writers except that most music sites don't even pay for any of the content. and the ones that do usually don't have their headquarters in a studio apt where the publisher lives.

Yeah, music blogging is consdierably different than writing feature stories

in magazines (like the first ad). Prefix is the third music blog I've written at

but the first that actually paid. A lot of them get away without paying

for the labor of love factor. Which is fine, I suppose.

 

At any rate, fuck Gawker.

Yeah, when you write for the most expensive blog property on the internet and you make enough money blogging to live in New York and do nothing else, your ass is a little out of touch. I check Craigslist damn near everyday, and the fact that they chose the Prefix ad as oppposed to all of the terrible ads from sheisty looking publications that don't offer any money is really bizarre.

Good call. I must sift through dozens of fakity writing job shit every week,

and none of them pay.
