The context: Musicians who are still somewhat relevant, but whose last album was like between 2003-2005.

 

I'm thinking off the top of my head: The Russian Futurists, The Faint, Broken Social Scene, Platinum Pied Pipers, Wolf Parade. Another would be Mos Def (because I have no recollection of this 'True Magic" album people talk about, and The New Danger kinda didnt happen...repressed memories FTW).

 

Who else should we demand an album from this year that falls under this context?

GM, I'm the one guy who actually enjoyed TRUE MAGIC. I mean, neither it nor NEW DANGER were as good as his first or the Black Star album. But I still liked it quite a bit.

 

I agree about The Faint, though. I'd also like a new Milemarker album.

I'm sorry, what was appealing about True Magic? I don't get it. A record so bad, they decided it was an accident to release it. Mos Def has some splainin to do.

yeah avalanches have been floating around my head, but theyre almost past the point of being overdue and theyre just gonna be forgotten. four tet is another one, but the leak for his new album just dropped, so i struck him off the list.

 

j-live also dropped an ep back in october, but i wouldnt mind getting another full length from him.

Franz Ferdinand.  Which is thankfully coming this year.
