That old rumor – that Apple would introduce a stripped-down version of the iPhone – is being floated again. This Sunday, Daily Mail has run a story citing sources close to Apple who claim the company will release iPhone Nano by Christmas. The gadget would allow for listening to music and phone calling, but won’t offer mobile Internet connectivity, according to the report. It’s supposedly destined for the prepaid market.

Do I buy this idea? Well, it is a possibility, though it would be surprising to see Apple step into the prepaid market; such a move could cheapen its brand. On the other hand, such a phone may be exactly what the prepaid market needs to revamp its image.

...

An iPhone Nano also makes sense for another reason: Many people like to carry smaller phones.

....

Apple took four years after the first iPod came out to release a nano version, and three years to introduce iPod mini, the size of a business card. But though it’s only been a year since the first iPhone came out, it is possible....

Don't go iPhone.  It's seriously the worst phone I've ever owned.  Aside from AT&T's terrible service (and costly terrible service, at that) it's got a LOT of cool things to look at and play with...but nothing as a seriously functional upswing compared to the Blackberry or even the T-Mobile Sidekick.  2 cents.

i haven't had a single problem with it yet. I use it at home almost more than I use my laptop now.

Do you often use it to listen to music?

How well is the screen holding up?

I just got a 3G iPhone recently.  It's really nice.  I don't even bring my nano around the city or on the subway anymore (but still use it to work out).  I can approve the many prefix comments from my phone now.  And NetShare works like a charm for wireless anywhere connection on my laptop.  Touchscreen + gravity sensor + GPS allow for some cool applications to come out.

The screen seems pretty resilient, although I've been taking pretty good care of it.  My only complaints are the battery life and that it freezes more than it should (maybe once every other day?)

Apparantly the iphone users at grant park this weekend were getting shitty reception.

Despite the main stage being brought to us by AT&T

I listen to music on mine quite often, despite having 3 other iPods.

And my screen is fine.

Battery life isn't the greatest, but considering all it does, its pretty solid.
