That's a pretty interesting definition Al, but I don't think people use the term that way at all anymore. It seems more like a judgement make upon others. I don't think most people know if the people they're labeling hipsters have any "socio or political opinion beyond whatever field they were in."

Should I make a separate thread about hipster rap?

I've always considered hipsters to be our generation's version of hippies. Just without much political standing or interest, if any at all. And just like anything else our generation has brought back, we've squeezed any kind of meaning or relevance out of it.

And yeah, I think hipster rap would need it's own thread for sure, haha. 

Nah... hipsters are pretentious cunts that are already getting too much undeserved attention via this thread. Another thread on hipsters would be as welcome as another Iphone post.
