I read it as "sorry Black Kids, your record isn't that good." They aren't dumb enough to be referring to themselves. Even if they're saying they're wrong, they're taking a lot of credit for the inital hype. -which may be true but I don't think they would insinuate this.
I also think the laziness of the review is just the hangover from the festival and then taking Monday off. |

Thems the breaks when you are more concerned with hyping the next big thing and staying ahead of the trend curve than actually enjoying music in all its forms. At the very least, you'd think they would give an explination why their most hyped band from last year is the worst band of this year. Just writing "Sorry" for duping people into thinking Black Whatever (and P4K by association) has cred doen't cut it. P4K is well on its way to being the NME of the internet.

They can of course do what they want, but I do think it's a bit unfair that a random album here or there doesn't get a regular review like the other albums on the site. Doesn't seem that professional then again who am I to talk.

Is this even necessary. Should this be addressed? I highly respect Pitchfork but if I were Black Kids, I would say screw them and get on. You don't see artists having to respond so singularly to other publications, regardless of the quality(or in this case the lack thereof) of the album.
He does handle it well, though I think he would prefer an 8-10 ranking despite what he says. I dont know maybe not... |

I don't think it's necessary but Pfork is the big name in the industry and their review did cause news. I'm sure ppl were curious to hear Black Kids reaction. With that said not necessary.
