I watched: Caribou- good set, Snaith played an extra drum kit most of the time, which was cool Fleet Foxes - they were good, great vocal harmonies live, but too much wasted time between songs. It got uncomfortable after a bit. Dizzee Rascal - I only watched the beginning, he yelled at the sound guys and it was pretty hilarioius. The Ruby Suns - I like the record but the show did nothing for me. Vampire Weekend - biggest surprise of the day for me. I had read that their stage presence stunk but they had command of the audience today. They were excellent. !!! - I've seen them a million times they are always great. They played 3 new songs which was cool. The Hold Steady - Seen them a few times, it gets less fun every time. Jarvis Cocker - only watched him b/c No Age was way late. He was entertaining. Animal Collective - best set of the day. They destroyed everyone else.
I was disappointed to miss No Age, the balance stage got behind and ended up competing against the main stage. Would have liked to see Jay Reatard but i was late.

Sunday: Times New Viking sound 10x better live. They don’t even attempt to sound lo-fi. I was pleasantly surprised. Saw Dirty Projectors, who sounded amazing. They played like 3-4 new songs all of which were terrific. Boris was pretty great too. I couldn’t believe how pumped the crowd was. Les Savy Fav. Hilarious as expected. Harrington went in a garbage can and covered himself in mud which he smeared all over everyone in his path. Ghostface & Raekwon were good, not spectacular. They kept talking about how they flew 9 hours from Europe to be here. Spiritualized were good. I’m not the biggest fan but I have a couple of their records and I enjoyed their show. Dinosaur Jr. was not loud enough. But they played “Feel the Pain” which really surprised me. The Barlow songs didn’t go over that well. It felt like everyone just wanted to watch Mascis. Somehow this was the first time I have seen Spoon and I wasn’t disappointed. Britt seemed really excited to be there which was nice. Set featured mostly from “Ga Ga” and “Gimme Fiction”. I don’t think they played anything from “Girls Can Tell” which was disappointing. |

They weren't loud? I've always though it's funny that they are known for this. They were very loud when I saw 'em. Maybe Dinosaur Jr. are too old for rock now. =(
