Do girls ever take fashion tips from straight dudes?

I was sent this article from their pr reps. 

 

So here are Chromeo's designer recommendations:

 

"With our Myspace fashion thingy coming out a couple of weeks ago, we got a lot of mail asking something to the effect of: "You've got a lot of tips for the fellas (i.e.: own at least 5 pairs of vintage Jordans), but what do you recommend for the lovely ladies?"

 

The answer is: not much. A girl shouldn't have to spend more than 60 dollars and devote more than 10 minutes for a stunning outfit. 40 bucks at H&M, 20 bucks on vintage heels or something and badabing, you're done. Should you really want to floss though, here are five designers who've got fine womenswear all figured out. (Honorary mention to the late, great Yves, of course--the best that ever did it.)

5. CARIN RODEBJER
The first time we went to Sweden we saw little kids who dressed exactly like The Strokes. They were 8 years old. As the cliche goes, must be something in the water over there, and expat Carin Rodebjer obviously drank lots of it.

Some girls take far too many fashion tips from straight men. The results are usually a bit gruesome. These seem quite tasteful, though.

 

I'm a bit bewildered by the whole Chromeo-Teen-Vogue thing, though.

I had no idea. I'm finally old enough to be entirely out of touch with what teenaged girls like, apparently.

i think it's probably the fun/catchy, danceable aspect

The only teenage girl I know who likes Chromeo says the music is too sexy for it's own good. I now feel like a ped whenever I listen to them.
