Ive always liked EA's hockey better than the 2k versions. 2K always tried to be like a realistic simulator, and EA was more like an arcade game. So it was always more fun. You could do crushing open ice hits and flip guys over while knocking their helmets off.

I remember one year they had the spirit bar, and if you charged that up then your home crowd would  start chanting, and your dudes would start playing like wildfire.

That shit was bomb.

Ha your crazy dude.  NHL 94... the last version to have blood on the ice if you hit someone hard enough.

Either that or 'Blades of Steel' NES the first game to have fighting as a feature.

 (we used to play that shit just for the fights.)

Blades of Steel is a close second. I remember a game once my cousin and I played where it took like an hour to play because he had a fight every 30 seconds.

NHL 96 is the first non-Blades of Steel hockey game I played, and I had it only on PC. So, I cannot speak to that.

But Wayne Gretzky's 3D hockey is the only hockey game to feature people doing backflips when they get hit, lose a fight, or fall down. It's bonkers. Also, Olympic Hockey: Nagano 98 was rad because it was the olympic version of the Gretzky game, and dudes got huge bruises on their faces when they got in fights.

I am in need for a new game.

The mlb2k has been getting average reviews and I hated the last one.

I The Show was for the 360.

Man,  every game on the wii sucks.

Since I bought the 360, I have only played my wii once.

I find the games boring.

NHL 98 was such a huge step up from 97. 

I'm picking up an N64 within the next couple of weeks and will keep an eye out for Gretzky's 3D Hockey. Trying to track down Blades of Steel - it's hard in this city.
