Yes, people hunt and eat meat, but there is a huge difference between that and tortur!ng animals for profit. They aren't k!lling those dogs as humanely as possible and eating them for sustenance. They make them eat each other for sport. Vick and everyone involved with this deserved to get the same treatment in a federal penitentiary.   Also, OJ Simpson.

I don't see a huge difference between dog fighting and hunting. Bottom line it's killing animals for the entertainment of humans.

 

And again I feel bad for Vick but I doubt he knew the consequences of being a part of this. How many times has dog fighting made the national news in the last few years. It goes on and has been going on for years, but until the Vick case you never heard of people going to jail for years. 

The point of hunting isn't to make animals suffer and crowds of people don't gamble on it.  They aim for the kill zone, if only so they don't have to run through the woods after the thing.  With dog fighting, they mentally and physically abuse the dogs for years to make them want to fight, and then they make them slowly eat each other to death for money.  Bottom line, hunting is an age old practice that usually results with dinner (it's life and death for some people) and dog fighting is only an insanely preserve, cruel, and disgusting money grab that drags humanity through the dirt.  It's completely different, dude.  I also think bull fighting belittles the soul.

I agree that dog fighting is more cruel than hunting.

 

But hunting in the U.S. in 2008 is still something done primarily for sport and the entertainment of humans. 

 

And once again, that's only one of my arguments as to why I feel bad for Vick.

 

The other put simply is that he was a high profile guy that PETA went after. Once they got involved he was done.

One is a sport of instant death and one is a sport of prolonged torture and suffering.  It's a big difference.  I say we should hunt humans.  Hell, start with Vick.  He can run like a bastard, so it'd be a great challenge.

Not disagreeing that it's more cruel.

But I do see both as sports primarily.

 

Some consider raping children a sport.  It's still wrong.

Theyre fucking dogs, animals, as much as you might wanna put a xmas sweater or designer booties on the thing, at the end of all your attempted humanization of the animal, it would still eat your ass if it were hungry enough.

 

 It ceases to amaze me how some people can show more empathy towards a dog, than to a human being. 

So you're saying it's okay to torture animals as long as they have the ability to kill you, if hungry enough.  So no otter fighting then?  It ceases to amaze me how some people can show no empathy at all towards animals when they have the same range of emotion and instincts as we do (only obviosly less evolved).  It's like fighting Downs children for sport. 

 

Animals are not our toys, to be used for food and entertainment however we see fit simply because we are more evolved (technically, anyway).  They are living creatures who want the same things out of life as we do, to be happy, well fed, loved, and to reproduce.  It's not about the humanization of animals.  Humans are animals too.  Even if you're not into that whole Darwin/Intelligent Design thing, we've got tailbones and fangs.  We're all Earthlings.

 

But the fact many show more empathy towards dogs than people probably stems from the fact humans know exactly what they're doing when they rape and kill other creatures; dogs simply don't know any better.  They are still innocent.  As always, the blood is on our hands.

Dogs have been domesticated since the earliest civilizations, and bred to help humans with specific tasks. Hunting, controlling livestock, or just simple companionship.

Companionship often involves teaching tricks for, (wouldnt you know it) our entertainment. 

Dog fighting and breeding dogs to fight specifically is just a twisted evolution of the former. Is it wrong?

Maybe, but Im not so pompous as to pass judgement on another person because I fail to understand their perspective.

 

And yeah a dog will never aspire to global imperialism, by raping the land, or killing the innocent ... but it also wont create anything like art, culture or forward scientific thinking... simply because its a fucking dog.
