I am a digger; I search for old music through all these neo-throwbacks that these popular artists assume are somehow unique because they speed up or slow down a rhythm and turn up the bass. this is not a new technique, nor is it unique. The difference that seperates these folks from their classic counter parts are that they make millions more with far less instrumentation (talent) and claim that its revolutionary - bitch that's just computer-hop pop. Most will say that complexity can't reach the masses, yet throughout history this exception has been proven by the greatest artists of all-time. Though popularly ridiculed and criticized during their reigns in time their contributions were recognized and haiiled in due time. MTV and mainstream radio apparently aim to entertain and earn profit rather than to popularize something of substance. Move to Hawaii you'll see what isolation does to musical complexity in America's Commercialism under the Bush Administration. Luckily enough for those of us without the depth of local resources there's youtube, myspace, rhapsody, and many others willing to show us a path through the darkness into the light
