BMI doesn't take into account muscle really. Maybe she was a supremely muscular 10 year old girl?!

I'm highly disappointed in this article because nowhere in this game does it say "fat." The options are "Underweight" "Ideal" "Overweight" "Obese." I think someone needs to do some fact checking before they put words in quotation marks if the word [fat] doesn't even exist in the game. There is a perfectly good chance that some one can indeed be overweight but not fat, it's called Muscle Weight. The father claims that she is SOLIDLY BUILT, then maybe it's saying she is "OVERWEIGHT" (not "FAT") because she is made up of mostly muscle? And obese isn't labeled as "fat" it's labeled as "obese."
This is just another chance for a family to collect money from a videogame company because of some stupid controversy. Why don't I just try to sue Nintendo for making me want to throw Banana Peels and Green Turtle shells at all the cars that are in front and behind me??? |

I'm mad at the guy that posted this article and the family that is complaining about how a videogame told their daughter she is "fat" when the word "fat" doesn't even show up in the game..

The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt in Baltimore, Maryland, believes that BMI is not a true reflection of an individual's health and are concerned that the BMI aspect of the Wii Fit program could have a negative impact on peoples' perception - both young and old - of their body image. To learn more about BMI and our thoughts on the topic, visit our CED Blog by Googling 'The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt, Blog' and check out the entry entitled 'BMI Don't You Judge Mii, Wii
