Glasgow Rangers fans clashed with police in Manchester last night after a screen in Piccadilly Gardens went black during the UEFA Cup final between Rangers and Zenit St. Petersburg at City of Manchester Stadium. One Russian fan was stabbed in the melee, which has led many to worry if there will be more trouble next Wednesday in Moscow when fans of Manchester United and Chelsea descend on the city for the UEFA Champions League final.

I watched the video on the BBC website this morning.  Disgusting isn't it?

Those Scottish fans were like rabid animals.

It's that mob mentality.  Makes these mindless idiots think such behaviour is alright.

Lucky that policemen only ended up badly bruised.

Made me laugh that the immediate response from the Scottish officials was that the English police overreacted by deploying riot police and that made things worse.  Apparently they STFU when they were then shown the CCTV footage!

I think the fans in the U.S. go too far, but it's nothing compared to soccer fans it seems.

Scotts arent rabid animals... they just love their booze.

This kind of thing doesnt happen a lot in the UK anymore, they've tamed down the hooliganism in reccent years... places like croatia, yugoslovia, turkey, and russia are way more 'rabid' or ruthless than the brits.

As for the russian who got stabbed, for sure the moscow firms will be waiting for the brits to come in town...It might be like when liverpool played in turkey years back...  there will be blood.

And whadda ya know... the Champions League Final is being contested by two British teams and being played in Russia.  This could get nasty!

Anyway, I wasn't say Scottish people are rabid animals, I have plenty of Scottish friends - was just saying that going by that footage, those fans were acting like rabid animals.

But you are right, Eastern Europe is where the nasty business goes down these days.  Plus the Spaniards and Italians have some quite brutal 'ultras' too.
