Dammit, I was gonna ask Thurston this very question...

An Inner Silence: The Portraits of Henri Cartier-Bresson

For me, An Inner Silence, The Portraits of Henri Cartier-Bresson.  Fortunately for me, there's more pictures than words.

I read that awful book that everyone loves, The Road. I guess how I can see how people would dig it, but I just can't stand Cormac McCarthy's writing.

Finishing The World Is Flat tonight...which is awesome.

The cover of that Bresson portrait book, I think, is Samuel Beckett.  His craggy mug is a photographer's delight.  I've actually been reading a good deal of his stuff lately.

Secondly: joydivided, Cormack McCarthey might be the greatest novelist in recent memory.  Have you read Blood Meridian?  Hot shit!

i dunno...it's not amazing. autobiographies are usually pretty predictable, and this is no execption, but it can be interesting to hear people like that discuss their craft in their own words. i'm thinking you can find something more fascinating than this, though...

Daba, you should read Kafka Was the Rage by Anatole Broyard. Pretty dreamy writer with zero stories about drugs.
