In the meantime, I've gone and reduced Pitchfork's list of the top 100 songs of the year to just the rap songs, for my own personal amusment.

With all due respect, past and present, and without further... to do:

1. 07 Big Boi [Feat. Gucci Mane] - "Shine Blockas"
2. 21 Raekwon [Feat. Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, & Method Man] - "House of Flying Daggers"
3. 33 DJ Quik and Kurupt - "9x's Outta 10"
4. 44 Jay-Z [Feat. Alicia Keys] - "Empire State of Mind"
5. 92 Cam'ron - "I Hate My Job"
6. 96 Gucci Mane [Feat. Plies] - "Wasted"

And that's it. Pitchfork only liked six rap songs this year, and two of them were by Gucci

I think "Stillness Is the Move" is the #1 song of the year.

Surprised to see "Daniel" so high, but I'm down with that.

Surprised to see both of those Phoenix songs in the top 10, but I'm down with that also.

Agree with Bol above about the hip hop on the list though. 6 out of 100???

Go Phoenix! Lol yeah, just had to say that for old time's sake. Wife and I just saw them in concert this weekend, together with Vampire Weekend, White Rabbits, Spoon, and Manchester Orchestra. (Loved Phoenix, VW, WR, absolutely hate MO, and skipped out before Spoon went on.)

I like Stillness Is the Move a lot, and wouldn't argue it for song of the year. Very talented people and a catchy little tune.
