They absorbed both electronic and rock elements to create a completely new and unknown sound, which at the same time has contributed to boost their profile as one of the most distinguished music producers in Japan. -------------------- Tahj Mowry starred and is perhaps best known as T.J. Arriving in New York City in 2001, G.C. and keyboardist/producer Prism began to establish the Soul Mafia brand through a trial by fire of open mics, battles, self promoted shows, and guerilla marketing tactics. By developing Pursuance Inc., the production wing of Soul Mafia, through placement on FOX, ESPN, and MSG, G.C. and Prism were able to finance their grass roots efforts. The early years were characterized by a revolving door of supporting players, but after several line-up changes, G.C. and Prism found the missing elements of Soul Mafia in drummer Lil D and vocalist Iam Beck.
Iam, an old band mate of G.C.s, was living in Indianapolis completely cut off from music until he got a call out of the blue from G.C. One week later he was on a greyhound bus. Two weeks later he was singing in front of 10,000 people.
Lil D, a 20 year old musical phenom born and bred in the heart of crime ridden Crown Heights, was added shortly after. Often described by engineers as the loudest drummer Ive ever heard, his fiery and dangerous style is a perfect fit for Soul Mafia.
With the inner circle established and battle tested from Detroit to South Carolina and the new album MK Ultra locked and loaded, Soul Mafia is ready to go international with the fiercest rock/ hip-hop show anywhere. Forged through years of struggle and sacrifice as individuals and as a collective, Soul Mafia is prepared to go the distance. In the words of G.C., if you aint in it til the finish, what you in it for?
