Does anyone else feel the need to discuss this list?

For one thing, I'm pleased with the amount of pop music that made the list, though the vast majority of it seems to be "black," R&B leaning pop. Granted, I'm definitely someone who thinks that the best pop music that's been released in the past few years has been R&B and rap, but come on, no Taylor Swift (a small gripe, but I think a valid one if you pay attention to pop music)? Also, it's great that they're showing Aaliyah some love (R.I.P.) but I personally don't care for the two songs of hers' that made the list, and I think that "Rock the Boat" and "More Than a Woman" are better aughts Aaliyah tracks. I mean, of course all of this shit is subjective, but i'm seriously baffled by some of these choices.

Lastly, I strongly feel that the two Kylie Minogue songs that made the list should be in opposite order.

Also, any guesses as to what #1 will be? I'm guessing "All My Friends," or "Wake Up."

I'm guessing Wake Up too. I've mostly ignored the list though, since like you, to me a lot of it seems calculated. Like, oh, we need some R&B here, how about Rihanna? Perfect.

I'm more amazed this list came out in August than what's on it (all of which is rather predictable). Considering how many albums on Pfork's best of the 90s list came in the second half of '99, it seems more like a cynical ploy for traffic from a site that doesn't really need it.

Can't believe Radiohead "National Anthem" didn't even make the list. For me, "BOB" didn't have the staying power to validate it as the best song of the decade. There are quite a few songs from the early 00's that I play a ton more than "BOB".

Should Hey Ya really be considered a rap song? That song is still awesome. I don't care how much it's been played out.

I thought this was pretty amusing. Brutal, but amusing.
