I'm with ya on 1 - 5 and 7. Don't know the others. I'll add Black Moth Super Rainbow, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band, Band of Skulls and The Decemberists new albums to round out my top ten.

No particular order here.  Just a crude list of what ive been diggin this year so far.

I just realised that the hip hop selections for 09 havent really cracked my top 15 overall... kinda sad. But I havent given full attention to the new Mos... like what Ive heard so far though.

Andrew Bird - Noble Beast
Junior Boys - Begone Dull Care
Chris Joss - Sticks
Black Lips - 200 Million thousand
Dark Night of the Soul
Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
Metric - Fantasies
Camera Obscura - My Maudlin Career
Grizzly Bear - Veckatamist
Patrick Watson- Wooden Arms
Years
Mika Miko - We be Xuxa

Condo Fucks - Fuckbook

Still havent heard that Passion Pit in it's entirety

IMHO it was. It was one of those that I listened to a bunch to write the review, and haven't even thought of since I turned the review in. It was pretty rough.

The Decemberists album isn't "bad" compared to the music spilling on the airwaves, but compared to other indie stuff and especially what they've accomplaished before, it's a low feat.

I haven't listened to a lot of stuff, like the Phoenix, the YACHT album, Veckatimest, and Dragonslayer, but here's the albums that more likely than not will end up on my list.

The Field - Yesterday and Today

Royksopp - Junior

St. Vincent - Actor

The Dream - Love vs. Money

Animal Collective - MWPP

Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca

Jenny Wilson - Hardships

Also, there's a ton of shit that hasn't come out yet like the Annie album, the Aeroplane album, the Mariah Carey album, the LCD Soundsystem album (hopefully out before the end of 09), and the Joanna Newsom album that I pray will be announced the next day every night before I go to sleep. It would be really great if my favorite album of 2009 was some absolutely surprise shit that hasn't been anticipated to death.

In no particular order...

Woods - Songs of Shame

The Field - Yesterday and Today

Micachu & the Shapes - Jewellery

Sunn O))) - Monoliths & Dimensions

The Horrors - Primary Colours

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion

Super Furry Animals - Dark Days/Light Years

Bat For Lashes - Two Suns

Antony and the Johnsons - The Crying Light

Hell - Teufelswerk

I'm disappointed by the Grizzly Bear and Dirty Projectors albums so far. I need to play them a bit more, but they sound kinda bland compared to past triumphs. The Black Moth and Sonic Youth albums both sound too similar to their other stuff to really make much of an impression. Also, I really haven't heard much great hip-hop or electronic music this year. Anyone got any recommendations?
